Blackgang Chine's 170th birthday

Blackgang Chine, the UK's oldest theme park, celebrates it's 170th anniversary this year. To commemorate this, the park is holding a 'Birthday Bash' next week starting on bank holiday Monday. 

In 1843 Alexander Dabell, a Victorian entrepreneur, established the chine as a general-purpose scenic and curiosity park. The main original feature was the skeleton of a huge Fin whale which had become stranded off The Needles, and today it still fascinates visitors who can actually walk through its rib-cage.
