New Island Tourism Team

Today we met the new admin team for 'Visit The Isle of Wight' headed by CEO, David Thornton at Yelf's Hotel in Ryde. This is the new group being set up to take over the running of Island Tourism from the council. We obviously were interested in what changes they hoped to bring to the industry and how they saw the future for the tourist industry on the Island

They seem to have a lot of positive ideas and were enthusiastic about what Island Explorer is about. They took on board what we see as concerns about attracting more visitors to the Island, like the ferry fare situation which is a hot potato with local residents at the moment as well as the reduction in late evening services.

Will this new team make a difference? We will have to wait and see but we look forward to working with them.
