On day 57 of the Olympic Torch Relay the flame finally arrived on the Island by a Wightlink car ferry at Yarmouth. It then visited Alum Bay where it traveled on the chairlift. Despite the threat of heavy showers throughout the day, we were fortunate to have dry spells as the torch arrived in Newport before catching a Red Funnel ferry to Southampton for it's overnight stop. We managed to get some fairly good shots of the torch as it left Newport along Fairlee Road. We were also lucky enough to get a good camera position at East Cowes were we captured Dame Ellen MacArthur bring the flame to the ferry. Visit our DVD clips 'Local Events' page to view the footage.
