Isle of Wight Bus and Coach Museum
|
Opened in 1997, the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum is a relatively new attraction on the Island. It houses collection of vehicles which have been carrying passengers on the Island since the early 1900's. Most of the collection was once owned and operated by the Island's main bus company; Southern Vectis. Being a holiday destination, coaches also feature in the museum. During the late 50's through to the late 60's, coaches with their advertising boards propped up against them would be a familiar site along Ryde Esplanade tempting holiday makers on excursions such as 'Round The Island', Osborne House, Blackgang Chine etc. The Museum puts on a number of 'running days' throughout the year when some of the collection can actually be seen carrying passengers once again. Visit their website for more information. The Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum features in our DVD; 'An Island Attractions Tour (Episode 2)'. Where to find the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum |
